Black and White – Yosemite
Yosemite park in the late winter can be very quiet and beautiful. People are few thus making for many empty spaces and allowing the nature to be easy to find without distractions. Also the contrasting light and mixed snow versus rocks and trees enhance the contrast. This is especially good for Black and White photography. Of course Ansel Adams new this well and so spent nearly a lifetime here. Ansel Adams prints have hung on my walls for a very long time. In Yosemite there is a Ansel Adams gallery and photography workshop where people can go and take classes. I thought that I might fit in one color picture of the Ahwahnee lodge for comparison. I like the Black and white better using a red filter correction to bring the darker color to the shudders. Some of the other photographs also had color filter corrections applied to them. My favorite is the last “Light Breaking into Valley”. I hope that you enjoy the photographs as well as Yosemite itself in late winter.
